Microsoft has announced that it would have invested $15.2 billion in AI and cloud infrastructure in the UAE by 2029, which includes around a $7.3 billion investment in the UAE since 2023 and a future $7.9 billion investment, according to an official statement from Microsoft on November 3rd.

From the beginning of next year to the end of 2029, Microsoft plans to invest over $7.9 billion in the UAE, of which, over $5.5 billion will be spent on expanding AI and cloud infrastructure across the UAE, while nearly $2.4 billion will cover local operations and the price of sold goods.

Vice Chairman and President of Microsoft, Brad Smith, confirmed that Microsoft was the first company this year under the Trump administration to obtain export licenses from the Commerce Department to supply Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) chips to the UAE – a strategic move after Trump’s restrictions on Nvidia’s advanced chip exports.
