Bahrain tech group submits plans for $1.5 billion project
Beyon Group, a Bahrain-based technology company, has submitted the master plan for a $1.5 billion development, known as the Digital City Bahrain project, to the Urban Planning and Development Authority (UPDA), as reported by Bahrain News Agency on November 3rd.
The Digital City Bahrain project will include research centres, schools, retail areas, hotels, healthcare facilities, and residential apartments.Â

Faisal Al Jalahma, Chairman of Digital City Development Company, said the project will be designed to cater to both business and community life.
“The Digital City will be a dynamic environment where business and community life can thrive,” he said, and highlighted the role of smart technology and human-focused design.
Ahmed Abdulaziz Al Khayat, CEO of the UPDA, said the master plan aligns with Bahrain’s National Urban Development Strategy and will integrate well with the existing national infrastructure.Â
He claimed that the project will promote sustainable urban growth, “while creating valuable opportunities for both the community and the business sector.”
The Digital City plan reflects a development in Bahrain’s urban planning strategy, with a focus on bringing together business and community.Â
The project also intends to strengthen Bahrain’s positioning as a hub for digital enterprise and research in the Gulf, potentially marking a step towards Bahrain becoming a knowledge-based economy.
Announced at Gateway Gulf 2025, the master plan is now being formally reviewed by the UPDA. Design standards are yet to be determined and preparation on the site for construction is yet to be carried out. Construction will begin after the UPDA completes its review.
