FBI says North Korea is responsible for $1.5 bn cryto theft

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation on February 26th claimed that North Korea is responsible for the theft of digital assets worth $1.5 billion last week, which is reportedly the biggest crypto robbery in history, Al-Monitor via AFP reported on February 27th.
Based in Dubai, the cryptocurrency exchange known as “Bybit” reported that it had lost 400,000 in cryptocurrency Ethereum, through theft.
The company said the attackers took advantage of security protocols in a transaction, allowing the assets to be transferred to an unidentified address. On February 26th, the US government blamed Pyongyang.
In a public service announcement, the FBI said: “(North Korea) was responsible for the theft of approximately $1.5 billion USD in virtual assets from cryptocurrency exchange, Bybit.”
