The University of Cambridge has been condemned by a UN rapporteur for seeking a High Court injunction to prohibit pro-Palestinian protesters from going into key sites of the university or interfering with its access, the Middle East Eye reported on February 27th.

The UN special rapporteur for Freedom of Assembly, Gina Romero, called on the university to not implement “regulations that contravene international standards [on] human rights protection, and to stop harassing and stigmatising the university-based pro-Palestine solidarity movement”.

The university’s application for an injunction follows months of protests from students who are pro-Palestine.
