US F-35 jets sold to Saudi Arabia to lack advanced features

F-35 fighter jets which will be sold by the US to Saudi Arabia will reportedly lack the same advanced features as those in the Israeli fleet, according to Al-Monitor via Reuters on November 19th.

The aircraft sold to Saudi Arabia will lack advanced weapons systems and electronic warfare equipment. But Israel opposed the planned sale over concerns that it will undermine Israel’s regional air superiority.

The planned sale of the aircraft was announced by US President Donald Trump, The move is in contrast to the previous US policy, which had restricted the sale of state-of-the-art jets in the Middle East to Israel.
