Sudanese paramilitary unilaterally declares humanitarian truce
Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia announced on 24th November that it would start an immediate 3-month ceasefire on humanitarian grounds in war-torn Sudan, reports France 24 and agencies.
The announcement follows the Sudanese army’s rejection of a peace plan proposed by the “Quad”, composed of the US, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. The Sudanese army accused the US of trying to weaken their position, while the RSF keeps the areas it has seized.
The situation on the ground is desperate after the RSF militias seized the city of El-Fasher on October 26th, forcing thousands to flee from the ensuing violence.
