Hamas confirms death of top commander

Hamas confirmed the death of prominent commander, Raed Saad, on 14^th December, after Israel claimed they killed the military figure in a strike close to Gaza City on 13^th December, according to a report in Asharq al-Aswat.

In a statement, Hamas descried Saad as the leader of its military manufacturing unit. Israel labelled him an instigator of the attacks on 7th October 2023 and a violator of the recent peace agreement due to his attempted rebuilding of the organisation.

Hamas announced a replacement commander but did not provide further information.
