Morocco announces two new deepwater ports

Morocco is building two new deepwater ports, one in the Northern city of Nador, and another in Dakhla in the Western Sahara, according to Maghrebi Week on 15th December.

The Nador port is due to open next year with 800 hectares for industrial activity, larger than the Tangier Med Port. It will support Morocco’s booming export trade across the Mediterranean area.

The Dakhla port, on the other hand, is described as the “gateway for the Sahel” and will be Morocco’s deepest, allowing for the processing of raw materials. It will open in 2028 and will include 1,600 hectares for industry and another 5,200 hectares of farmland.
