Israeli settlers break into Gaza Strip
Dozens of Israelis from the far-right Nachala settlement movement broke into the Gaza Strip and raised an Israeli flag on December 18th, according to the Middle East Eye and agencies on the same day.
The settlers were prevented from progressing further into the Palestinian territory by Israeli forces, who had previously apprehended and returned settlers who breached the Gaza border, as reported on December 11th.
Some Israelis believe that Gaza is part of Israeli territory under the “Greater Israel” idea, which envisages Israel’s borders expanding to encompass the occupied Palestinian territories, along with parts of Jordan and Syria.
