Moroccan football coach to be given Jordanian citizenship
The Moroccan head coach of the Jordanian national football team, Jamal Sellami, declared it “a great honour” that King Abdullah II had kick-started the process to grant him with Jordanian citizenship, according to a report by Moroccan government-friendly Yabiladi on December 19th.
Speaking at a press conference after Morocco beat Jordan in the Arab Cup Final, Sellami announced his plans to “build a team” to an “advanced stage,” following the country’s qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
Sellami succeeded compatriot Hussein Ammouta as head coach of the national team in 2024. Under the new leadership, Jordan qualified for the first world cup in its history.
