Activists say shelling kills 12 in Sudan’s Darfur
Activists say that 12 people have been killed by shelling by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Darfur, according to the Arab News via AFP.
Five were wounded in the bombardment and five people were captured after, said the local resistance committee, one of hundreds of volunteer groups co-ordinating aid across Sudan.
Former rebel leader Mini Minawi who is now the region’s governor said the RSF had torched some 20 villages in the area. The army has mostly ben confined to North Darfur capital El-Fasher, a city that the RSF has laid siege to since May and where famine has been declared in the Zamzam camp for the displaced to its south.
