Burkina Faso junta fires PM and dissolves government
The military junta ruling Burkina Faso has dismissed interim PM and dissolved the government, a decree issued by the office of military leader Ibrahim Traore said on December 6th according to Reuters.
The decree did not give a for the dismissal of Apollinaire Joachim Kyelem de Tambela, who was appointed as interim Prime Minister after Traore seized power in September 2022 – one of a string of military coups in the Sahel in recent years.

The decree said that until a new cabinet is named, members of the dissolved government will continue in their roles.
Burkina Faso has been fighting armed groups including some with links to al Qaeda and Islamic State, since they spread into its territory from Mali almost ten years ago.

The security situation has deteriorated further under Traore, who had vowed to do better than his predecessors when he assumed command in 2022.
Many analysts, rights groups and humanitarian workers also say his regime has cracked down on dissent.
