Ivory Coast becomes latest country to as French troops to leave

The Ivory Coast became the latest African country to ask French troops leave, following the footsteps of other former French colonies including Chad, Niger and Burkina Faso.
Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara said on December 31st that the pull-out would begin in January 2025 according to AP. There are up to 600 French troops in the Ivory Coast.
The announcement follows similar announcements by a number of surrounding countries, which some see as a sign of a structural reshaping of Francophone Africa’s engagement with France.
