Sudanese army condemns ethnic killings in El-Gezira
The Sudanese army on condemned on January 14th what it called “individual violations” in Sudan’s El-Gezira state in recent days after rights groups blamed the army and allies for ethnically-targeted attacks on civilians, report Reuters.
The attacks largely targeted western Sudanese living in the central state because of accusations they worked with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, which has been fighting the army since April 2023.
The Sudanese army and allied forces recaptured state capital Wad Madani from the RSF earlier this week, marking a potential turning point in the war.
