Hamas: Gaza ceasefire deal with Israel is a “turning point”
Hamas has described the Gaza ceasefire agreement with Israel as a “turning point in the fight against the Israeli occupation.”
According to Middle East Monitor on January 16th, the group said of the deal, which is scheduled to come into effect on January 19th: “The ceasefire agreement is the fruit of the legendary steadfastness of our great Palestinian people and our valiant resistance in the Gaza Strip, over more than 15 months.”
There were celebrations a day prior when news reached Palestinians in Gaza, who took to the streets, whistling, clapping and chanting “Allahu akbar”, with some shedding tears of joy, according to Middle East Monitor.
