Algerian president Abdelmadjid Tebboune said he was surprised by reports in French media and political circles alleging that Algeria receives financial aid and assistance from Paris, with threats of their suspension, reported Middle East Monitor on January 21st.

Tebboune dismissed the claims, and said they represented an “ignorance about Algeria.” Speaking at the opening of the national cinema sessions, the president stated that “Algeria needs no one but God Almighty and its people.”

He added “we embrace and cherish our friends, but those who choose hostility, that is their concern.”
