The National Syndicate of Tunisian Journalists says Tunisia’s jailing of two journalists has put their lives in “imminent danger”.

According to Middle East Monitor on January 28th, the union stressed the “seriousness” of the situation and said both journalist Mohamed Boughalleb who has diabetes, and Shaza El-Haj Mubarak, need urgent medical interventions.

Amnesty International reports that Boughalleb, who has been detained since April 2024, has endured repeated infections in prison, as his diabetes worsens, as well as deterioration of his eyesight and hearing.
