Burkina Faso issues first new bloc passport

The ruler of Burkina Faso Ibrahim Traoré became the first person to receive the new Alliance of Sahel States (AES) passport, reported Africa News on February 2nd.

This came days after his country along with Niger, and Mali exited the West African Economic and Monetary Union (ECOWAS).

ECOWAS has said that it is still open to dialogue and cooperation with the AES countries.
