Trump suggests Morocco could take in Palestinians from Gaza
According to Israeli media US President Donald Trump has suggested that Morocco could house forcibly relocated Palestinians from the Gaza strip.
Reported by The New Arab, an Israeli news channel broadcasted that Trump floated Morocco as a possible asylum country for Gazans due to its dependence on US recognition of the North African kingdom’s sovereignty over the contested Western Sahara region.
Pro-Moroccan outlet Hespress, published the reaction of Dr. Mohamed Al-Zahrawi, Professor of Political Science, who called the reports “misleading news and rumors aimed at testing the waters”, stressing that Moroccan diplomacy centres on “independence, pragmatism, diversifying partners, and defending its supreme interests”.
