Malian army accused of killing 24 civilians

Malian soldiers, accompanied by Russian Wagner military contractors, have been accused by Tuareg-dominated groups of killing 24 civilians travelling north to Algeria from the city of Gao, reported Reuters on February 18th.
In a statement on February 17th, the Azawad Liberation Front (FLA),a group fighting Mali’s government for the independence of the Azawad region, said the civilians were travelling in two vehicles, one of which was set on fire while the other escaped with some survivors.
Family members of three victims and a spokesperson for the local human rights association Kal Akal confirmed the incident to Reuters. A family member of the driver of one of the vehicles said it was transporting migrants.
