Sudan RSF militia and allies to form parallel government

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia in Sudan will sign a charter with allied political and armed groups on February 22nd to establish a “government of peace and unity” in territories it controls, Reuters was told by signatories al-Hadi Idris and Ibrahim Mirghani.
The RSF controls most of the western Darfur region and large parts of the Kordofan region in an almost-two-year civil war, but is being pushed back from central Sudan by the army, which has condemned the formation of a parallel government.
The parallel government has already drawn concern from the United Nations, is expected to not receive widespread recognition. Affiliates say its formation will be announced from inside the country.
