South Africa’s power company Eskom has announced controlled outages, as they cut 3,000 megawatts of electricity from the grid due to ‘temporary setbacks.’

According to AfricaNews, Eskom will provide further updates on March 1st, however outages are often caused by breakdowns at Eskoms coal plants.

The measure, known as “load shedding” has been described as essential in order to replenish South Africa`s energy reserves.
