The US State and Treasury departments have levied a barrage of economic sanctions on 22 people and 13 ships linked to the Iranian petrochemical industries.

The National reported on February 24th that US President Trump signed a memorandum in order to “impose maximum economic pressure” to stop Iran from developing a nuclear weapon, but are also part of a broader effort to bring Iran’s “oil exports to zero.”

Iran has also recently held talks with Germany, France and Britain, known as the E3, about its nuclear programme.
