BDS launches Ramadan boycott of Israeli medjool Dates

The Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) has started Ramadan with the message for consumers to boycott medjool dates. On the 4th of March, the group has called the Israeli dates ‘genocide linked products’ according to The New Arab.
The Moroccan chapter of the group has been warning for vigilance when it comes to checking the dates to make sure they have not been repackaged.
The group have said they haven’t found any of the dates effectively packaged in markets as of this year 2025. They believe this to be down to past awareness and efforts from previous boycotts.
With medjool dates being a staple of Ramadan and Israel being one of the world leaders in its production, it appears the BDS group see the boycott as an important reaction to the war in Gaza.
