Algeria investigation: ex-interior minister faces corruption charges

A former interior minister and chief of protocol for Algeria have been ordered for temporary detention due to “corruption” charges.
According to Middle East Monitor, Salah Eddine Dahoune, former interior minister, and Mokhtar Raqiq, former chief of protocol, are charged with alleged “corruption.”
Both served during the caretaker government of Prime Minister Noureddine Bedoui in April 2019, following the fall of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
The investigation into the pair is a corruption case for the alleged granting of exclusive rights for publishing government advertisements in Algeria to a company owned by Bouteflika’s nephew, who is a fugitive.
Many businessmen and officials who were involved in Bouteflika’s government have been imprisoned, including three prime ministers.
