Libya: Belarussian delegation visits eastern government

A Belarussian delegation has concluded their visit to Benghazi in eastern Libya, under the control of Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, reported by RFI on March 12th.
For the internationally isolated Benghazi government, the visit by Belarus comprised the signing of six framework agreements covering health, agriculture, industry and oil, The delegation also included members of Minsk’s intelligence services.
Analysts believe the rapprochement has been encouraged by Moscow who is seeking to increase their military and economic presence in Africa. The delegation’s visit coincided with the visit of Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yunus-bek Yevkurov, seen in Benghazi on March 7th.
