Moroccan police seize 17,000 pills, arresting 4 suspects

Tetouan police seized 17,505 pills in a drug raid, arresting four suspects on the evening of March 11th.
According to government funded Morocco World News, the operation was undertaken in collaboration with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST) and the suspects are believed to be involved in a larger criminal network that traffics drugs.
A security source said the suspects were caught red-handed with the drugs as they were trying to sell them. As part of the operation, police searched the suspects’ vehicle, finding 17,505 “Rivotril” pills. These pills are a prescription drug for managing epilepsy that can be misused as a narcotic.
Moroccan authorities have placed the suspects under judicial investigation, aiming to discover further details about the network, they hope to identify other individuals involved and to stop the entire operation.
The security source explained that the operation is part of Morocco’s varied efforts to fight drug trafficking and organized crime.
In addition to the Moroccan authorities recent victory, during February Moroccan police seized 6,934 psychotropic pills in Marrakesh.
