The Israeli military confirmed the killing of two Hezbollah militants in separate airstrikes in a statement released on March 16th.

According to the Arab Weekly, the Lebanese health ministry confirmed one death from an Israeli strike, while state media reported the other.

In a statement, the Israeli military said, “Earlier today, the IDF eliminated two Hezbollah terrorists who were surveillance operatives involved in directing a terror attack in the Yatar and Meiss El Jamal areas of southern Lebanon.”

This strike marked the third in southern Lebanon within 24 hours.

The Israeli drone attack followed a similar incident the day before, in which one person was killed in a vehicle strike in the southern border town of Burj al-Muluk.

Despite a truce on November 27 that halted over a year of hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel, Israel has continued periodic strikes on Lebanese territory.

Israel was supposed to withdraw its troops from Lebanon by February 18, but forces remain stationed at five strategic locations.

As the Israeli military confirms killing of Hezbollah militants, tensions continue to soar in Lebanon, further raising concerns surrounding the stability of the fragile ceasefire.
