Military cooperation pact signed between Morocco and Cameroon

Morocco and Cameroon have signed a military cooperation agreement, in hopes to further bolster defense ties between the two countries.
According to The North Africa Post, the deal was signed in Rabat on March 18th in a meeting between Moroccan minister, Abdeltif Loudyi, and Minister Delegate to Cameroon’s Presidency, Joseph Beti Assomo.
Loudyi reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to regional security and stability, pointing to the Royal Atlantic Initiative which aims to establish Africa’s Atlantic coast as both an economic and security hub.
Moroccan counterpart, Assomo described Cameroon as making its partnership with Morocco a priority, praising Rabat’s South-South cooperation initiatives, launched by King Mohammed VI.
Both sides agreed to the implementation of the provisions that set out within the agreement
The two counties say the hope to cooperate in training, military health services, joint exercises, and technical assistance.
Morocco’s military have fostered alliances with several countries, including Israel and France. As well as this, in February 2025 Morocco allowed Turkish drone manufacturer Baykar to set up in the country.
In January 2025, Morocco’s military ranked number 59th worldwide in terms of military power.
