Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy is facing a verdict following a months-long trial over alleged illegal financing of his 2007 campaign, tied to back-channel deals with Libya and its former dictator Moammar Gadhafi, as reported by AP News on April 8th.

Prosecutors accuse Sarkozy of accepting millions from Gadhafi in exchange for political favours, including easing legal pressure over the 1989 UTA flight bombing.

Sarkozy denies all allegations, calling the claims baseless and politically motivated.
