The European Union’s top diplomat, Kaja Kallas, said there is strong support within the bloc to revisit its trade agreement with Israel, as pressure mounts over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, reports the Middle East Eye.

“The situation in Gaza is catastrophic,” Kallas told reporters. “The aid Israel has allowed is, of course, welcomed, but it’s a drop in the ocean. Aid must flow immediately, without disruption, and at scale, because this is what is needed,”

She said most EU countries back a formal review of Article Two of the EU-Israel Association Agreement, which links trade ties to respect for human rights. “So we will launch this exercise, and in the meantime, it is up to Israel to unblock the humanitarian aid. Saving lives must be our top priority.”
