Algeria conducts military exercise near Morocco border

Algeria’s Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Said Chengriha, oversaw a live-fire tactical exercise near the Moroccan border on the 22nd of May, as tensions continue to simmer between the North African neighbours.
According to the Qatar government-friendly MEMO, the drill, dubbed “Fortress Impregnable 2025,” took place in the Tindouf region and involved multiple army units and weapons systems. Chengriha emphasised the exercise as a crucial test of combat readiness and equipment mastery during his visit to the Third Military Region.
The timing and location of the military display, so close to Morocco’s border, signal Algeria’s continued focus on regional security amid ongoing diplomatic strains between the two countries.
