Tunisia: trials of opposition politicians continues

A Tunisian court has sentenced a prominent opponent to Tunisian President Kaid Saied, Abir Moussi, to two years in prison on June 12th for criticizing the electoral commission, according to Reuters.
Moussi is the president of the Free Constitutional Party and an outspoken critic of Saied. She has been in prison since 2023 after being arrested on suspicion of assault intended to cause chaos as part of what Moussi’s supporters say is Saied’s crackdown on opposition politicians.
The crackdown recently saw Tunisia’s former Prime Minister and senior member of another opposition party, Ennahda, sentenced on May 2nd to 34 years in prison on charges of facilitating the departure of jihadists to Syria.
