Syrian doctor who tortured detainees gets life sentence

A court in Germany on June 16th sentenced a Syrian doctor who tortured people staying at Syrian military hospitals to life behind bars, Al-Monitor reported.
Alaa Mousa, faced allegations of crimes against humanity during the leadership of Bashar al-Assad in 18 incidents during 2011 to 2012, such as setting a teenage boy’s genitals on fire.
Mousa was also accused of arranging a deadly injection for a patient who had not allowed themselves to be subjected to a physical attack, federal prosecutors said. The court also ruled that Mousa was responsible for murder and war crimes, alongside the torture.
