Saudi journalist was executed over X account, campaigners say

A Saudi journalist who shed light on corruption and women’s rights was executed on June 14th and campaigners have claimed he was initially jailed because he was allegedly running an X account that covered the misconduct of people in power.
The leading late journalist, Turki al-Jasser, was also vocal on the rights of the Palestinian people, Middle East Eye reported on June 16th.
Those who supported al-Jasser have said his execution in Saudi Arabia made it blatant that any condemnation of authority figures in Saudi Arabia comes at a price. They compared his death to that of the late Saudi journalist, Jamal Khashoggi, who was murdered in 2018.
