Egypt leads lineup at Tunisia’s Cinemaveneria festival

Tunisia’s Cinemaveneria Festival for Amateurs will run from June 20th to June 22nd, drawing emerging filmmakers from across the Arab world and beyond, The Arab Weekly reported.
This year’s international competition is led by Egypt but will also feature a diverse range of work from Algeria, Morocco, Iraq, Bahrain, US, Lebanon, Mauritania, Jordan and of course Tunisia. The festival also offers workshops in scriptwriting, cinematography and directing, aimed at nurturing new regional talent.
Cinemaveneria is part of a wider grassroots movement in Tunisia that champions amateur film. Despite limited resources and minimal institutional support, amateur filmmakers are leveraging digital tools to reach wider audiences.
