Syria: Christians call for protection following church attack

Following a suicide bombing on a church in the Syrian capital of Damascus on June 22nd, Christians in Syria have called for greater protection of their communities, Al-Monitor reported on June 23rd.

Laure Nasr lost eight relatives, such as her husband, due to the attack. She said: “I want [Syrian President] Ahmed al-Sharaa to personally bring me justice.”

Another person affected by the attack is Jenny al-Haddad, who lost her father, who was praying in the church. Hadad said that those behind the attack must be held accountable and stressed that authorities need to safeguard minority groups.
