The Canadian Prime Minister’s idea of a “Zionist Palestinian state” has sparked an outcry on social media, in which critics have said the leader is asking Palestinians to adopt the political ideology of those oppressing them, Middle East Eye reported on June 26th.

In an interview on June 25th at the NATO summit, the Canadian leader, Mark Carney, said “a Zionist Palestinian state” is necessary to maintain peace between Israel and Palestinians.

The non-government organisation (NGO), Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East, said Carney is “dead wrong” on X. The NGO, the National Council of Canadian Muslims, called Carney’s comments “insulting” on X.
