Israel: Netanyahu’s party eyes official West Bank annexation

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud Party is pushing for the West Bank’s official annexation, Middle East Eye via Reuters reported on July 2nd, citing The Times of Israel.

In a letter, the Likud Party defended the notion of the annexation, alleging an “existential threat from within must be eliminated, to prevent another massacre in the heart of the country.” All 15 government ministers from Likud signed the letter.

Reportedly, if the West Bank is annexed, this would constitute a breach of international law. Egypt denounced the Likud Party’s move.
