Syria: Relentless wildfires raze forest and farmland

Wildfires in Syria’s Latakia province continued to raze the country on July 6th, while Jordanian firefighters were dispatched to contain the fires which had gone on for four days, according to Middle East Eye.
Aerial footage showed extensive areas of agricultural and forest land on fire. Videos circulating online also showed massive clouds of smoke reaching the sky.
At least 10,000 hectares of forest and farmland were razed, and hundreds of families were left with no choice but to leave their homes, according to Syria’s authorities. Emergency units attempted to battle the fires with difficulty.
