Libya does not want to bear the brunt of European migration

Libyan Member of Parliament Youssef Al-Agouri has declared during a meeting in Benghazi with the French Ambassador that Libya will not serve as Europe’s border guard or act as a buffer zone for migrants, according to the Libya Review on July 7th.
Al-Agouri reaffirmed Libya’s acceptance of Sudanese refugees fleeing the violent civil war, and displayed gratitude for cooperation from France but spoke out against EU policies that would turn Libya into a detention zone for irregular migrants.
European border agencies have already highlighted that Libya is becoming an increasingly crucial transit point for migration into Europe.
