The ex-Prime Minister of Israel, Ehud Olmert, has said his country’s proposal of a “humanitarian city” in Rafah, south Gaza, mirrors a concentration camp, Middle East Eye via The Guardian reported on July 14th.

The ex-leader told The Guardian: “It is a concentration camp. I am sorry.” If they [Palestinians] will be deported into the new ‘humanitarian city’, then you can say that this is part of an ethnic cleansing. It hasn’t yet happened.”

Olmert added that the proposal’s vision of creating a camp that will relocate over half of the population of Gaza is not a humanitarian strategy.
