Moroccan authorities have expanded their investigation into a German tourist who has been accused of sexual exploitation against minors in Tangier, Hespress reported on July 15th.

The German national was reportedly helped by a Moroccan local who would lure vulnerable children to the suspect in exchange for money. Neighbours of the tourist reported him to authorities after frequently seeing minors enter the man’s home.

Although there is much more to this foul story than meets the eye.

Authorities believe there is a darker element to the case, suspecting there are significantly more than three victims, over multiple visits to Morocco the German tourist made. The judge is allegedly anticipating more arrests in connection with this case as The Royal Gendarmerie in Ksar Sghir investigates a possible network of exploitation involving multiple accomplices.

As reported by Maghrebi, Moroccan journalist Muhammed Mamouni Alwai has previously highlighted how child exploitation is a seriously concerning issue in Morocco stating how “these crimes are on the rise and weigh heavily on Moroccan families.”
