Israel’s attacks on the presidential palace and defence ministry of Syria have been denounced by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) as a “flagrant violation” of Syria’s sovereignty, Middle East Eye reported on July 16th.

Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, the GCC’s Secretary General, said Israel’s attacks amount to a violation of “international laws and norms.” Albudaiwi also said the attacks endanger “regional security and stability”.

Albudaiwi added that Israel’s escalation of the attacks was irresponsible and reaffirmed the GCC’s support for the sovereignty of Syria – a country where displacement has taken place due to Israel’s military activity.
