Soon before US president Donald Trump vowed to help Afghan evacuees who left their nation and were relocated to the UAE, the UAE had started sending them back to Afghanistan, informing the US of the move, The New Arab via Reuters reported on July 21st.

In 2021, the UAE agreed to host thousands of people from Afghanistan who had been evacuated from the capital of Kabul, as the Taliban forced out the US-aligned government.

Over the years, roughly 17,000 Afghans have been processed via the “Emirates Humanitarian City,” which is an Abu Dhabi facility.
