WHO facilities attacked by Israel, staff detained

The World Health Organisation (WHO) staff residence within Deir al-Balah were attacked three times by Israel’s military on July 21st, according to the WHO’s chief, Middle East Eye reported.
On X, the agency’s Director-General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said: “Israeli military entered the premises, forcing women and children to evacuate on foot toward al-Mawasi amid active conflict. Male staff and family members were handcuffed, stripped, interrogated on the spot and screened at gunpoint.”
Ghebreyesus added that two employees of WHO alongside two relatives had been detained, but that three people were later released from detention.
