One in five Gaza City children are malnourished, with cases rising day by day, according to the UN’s Palestinian refugee agency (UNRWA), the BBC reported on July 25th.

In a statement released on July 24th, the agency’s Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini referred to a colleague who told him: “People in Gaza are neither dead nor alive, they are walking corpses.”

Over 100 global aid groups and human rights organisations have also raised the alarm on widespread starvation, pushing for governments to address the issue. As of yet, Israel has pointed the finger at Hamas for malnutrition.
