Lebanese militant returns to Beirut after 40 years behind bars

A pro-Palestine Lebanese militant who spent over four decades behind bars in France for killing two diplomats, returned to Beirut on July 25th, according to Al-Monitor via AFP.

Georges Ibrahim Abdallah was put on a plane and sent back to Lebanon to be welcomed by relatives. The 74-year-old was met with many supporters, with some waving Lebanese Communist Party and Palestinian flags.

In Abdallah’s first public speech since being freed, he discussed the conflict in Gaza. Abdallah said: “The children of Palestine are dying of hunger while millions of Arabs watch.”
