Libyan city’s refugee population now matches locals

The Mayor of the Libyan city Kufra, Abdul Rahman Aqoub, has made a statement claiming that the number of refugees in the city exceeds 61,000, which was the original population of Kufra, according to the Libya Observer on July 27th.
Aqoub noted that due to the constant flow of refugees into Libya the statistics and figures are not accurate, and explained that due to the war in neighbouring Sudan the city is receiving Sudanese refugees on a daily basis.
Most of the refugees in Kufra rely on local aid for medicine and health services, which are scarce, and of the refugees living on farms 90% lack adequate shelter.
