During the night of August 7th–8th, Israel’s security cabinet approved Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plan to defeat Hamas in the Gaza Strip, as reported by Maghrebi Week.

The plan outlines Hamas’ disarmament, the liberation of all hostages, the demilitarisation of the Gaza Strip, establishing Israeli security control over the territory, and forming an alternative civil administration which is “neither Hamas nor the Palestinian Authority,” as objectives for the conflict to end.

Hamas, still holding 49 hostages, accused Netanyahu of sacrificing lives for “his personal interests,” while protests erupted in Tel Aviv against the government’s new military strategy.
